Terms of Use

Who we are

Rollo (previously called Ladders) is provided by James Leggatt, an individual (sole trader) in the United Kingdom. “We” and “us” in these terms mean James Leggatt. You can reach us at [email protected].

What Rollo does

Rollo is a budgeting app. You set up a budget with your income and the date it has to last until, and Rollo gives you an amount to spend each day. What you don't spend goes into your pot, and you can save towards goals if you want to.

Rollo is a mobile app with a public website. It never connects to your bank and never holds or moves your money: everything in it is what you enter yourself.

Not financial advice

Rollo is a tool for keeping track of your own spending. It is not financial advice, and nothing in the app or on this website is a recommendation about what you should do with your money. Decisions about your money are yours.

Your device and older accounts

The on-device app stores your budgets on your phone without email sign-in. Keep your phone and exported backups secure.

You must be 16 or over to use Rollo.

Subscriptions in the iPhone app

In the iPhone app, your first budget is free. After that, you can subscribe to keep setting up budgets:

The price shown in the App Store, in your own currency, is the price that applies. Payment is taken from your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel. To avoid being charged for the next month, cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.

Deleting your local data or an older Rollo account does not cancel your App Store subscription. Cancel it in your App Store account settings as well.

Refunds

Payments are handled by Apple, so we can't issue refunds ourselves. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides refund requests under its own policies.

Apple's terms

If you use the iPhone app, Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement also applies, alongside these terms.

Using Rollo fairly

Please don't:

If you do, we may suspend or close your account.

Your data

What you enter in Rollo is yours. Our Privacy Policy explains what we store, why, and the rights you have over it.

Backups and deleting data

You can stop using Rollo at any time. The on-device app supports JSON export and import; you are responsible for keeping a current backup. App Store purchase restoration restores purchase access, not budget data. Settings → Account → Delete local data erases budget data on that phone and its local recovery copy, while retaining your purchase ID and free budget allowance status. Deleting data or importing a backup does not renew a used free allowance. Exported files, operating-system backups and older hosted accounts are unaffected. To delete an older hosted account, contact us. Deleting data does not cancel an App Store subscription.

Our responsibility to you

We work to keep Rollo accurate and available, but we provide it as it is and can't promise it will always be free of errors or interruptions. We aren't responsible for decisions you make about your money based on what Rollo shows you.

Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that the law doesn't allow us to limit, or takes away your legal rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Rollo changes. When we do, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. If you keep using Rollo after a change, the updated terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
